Parents Right to Know Act (House Bill 240)
The Parents Right to Know Act passed on June 30, 2021 updates the Ohio law to provide sexual risk avoidance education for middle and high school students. Public schools submit an annual audit to prove sexual risk avoidance education is provided. These audits must be posted on the Ohio Department of
Education website annually and include the name of the program used.
If Ohio public schools decide to provide any sexual education outside of the requirements in the Parents Right to Know Act, they must inform parents and parents must opt-in children to participate in these programs.
